M&S Launches on WebSphere Commerce

M&S this morning unveiled its new-look website, shaped around its customers over the course of more than two years of testing. The site is built, for the first time, on its own platform (IBM WebSphere Commerce) instead of the Amazon platform it traded on for many years. WPP Announces Salmon Takeover Deal

WPP has confirmed the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Okam Limited, the holding company of the Salmon Group. Founded in 1989, Salmon provides digital consulting, design, delivery and support services to leading retail, wholesale and manufacturing brands including the likes of Game, Halfords, Kiddicare, and Selfridges. B&Q Investing £35m in Multichannel over the Next 3 Years

DIY retail group Kingfisher is investing £35 million over the next three years on the launch of a new multichannel platform for its B&Q brand. The changes to the business’s retail offering are set to align B&Q’s bricks and mortar stores with its online transactional website DIY.com and a new m-commerce facility. Pearson Warns Apple Over High Apps Charges

Pearson, the owner of the Financial Times and Penguin, yesterday hit out at Apple's controversial changes to its subscription policy, slamming its plans to block sharing of customer data. Dame Marjorie Scardino, chief executive of Pearson, said she was "unclear" how Apple's plan to take a 30 per cent cut of magazine and newspaper subscriptions would work, adding: "We are still talking to them." GAME investing heavily in multichannel with a focus on downloads and mobile gaming

Game aims to triple its digital revenues as part of a three-year strategy to evolve into a fully multichannel business. The games specialist makes annual online sales of £100m at group level at present, and wants to increase the sum to £300m by 2013. Digital revenue streams represented 2.5% of turnover in 2010 and Game wants to grow the proportion to 7.5% in 2011.
